Training, Teaching, and Clinical Consultation Services
As a part-time Professor for the Masters in Counselling, Psychotherapy, and Spirituality at Saint Paul University, Meghan has taught the Clinical Practicum to prepare students to be professional and registered therapists. Meghan has taught practical lectures on trauma, crisis intervention, therapeutic relationship, professional boundaries and ethics, and cognitive-behavioural therapy.
Meghan has worked with children and youth in the mental health field for over 15-years. She has trained parents, educators, and nurses in developmental psychotherapy and mental health treatment for children aged 2 - 17. Some topics include: fostering relationships, understanding the developing mind, and somatic exercises for children.
Billings Psychotherapy specializes in supporting clients who have experienced trauma, including Complex PTSD (CPTSD) and PTSD, through compassionate, trauma-informed care. Meghan is a trained trauma-therapist with experience in treating the nervous system and utilizing treatment methods that provide a sense of safety and security for clients.
Meghan has worked in crisis intervention and suicide prevention for over 7-years. She has managed and supervised a nation-wide crisis service. In this role, she has trained supervisors and developed policies, practices, and programs to provide the highest quality care to clients. Some trainings she teaches are, suicide risk assessment, understanding suicidality, self-injury, and homicidality, and developing a safety plan.
As part of Meghan's work with children and youth she has worked with child protective services and group homes to support vulnerable youth who have experienced trauma. She is trained to evaluate and assess a client for behavioural and psychological responses that may put the child at risk further. Meghan has written behavioural plans, safety plans, and support plans for children and youth.
Registered Psychotherapist's are required to maintain clinical trainings and stay up-to-date with research. Meghan provides and develops mental health training and resources for training, educational, and clinical use.
